my story

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela on a  February morning.  One of my earliest memories is my mother's warm embrace and the sound of her heart beating.

In the summer of '07, my family and I left Venezuela for sunny South Florida.  Insert some sappy story about The American Dream and having to learn English here.

In middle school, I joined the school band and began playing the flute, which I would go on to play until my senior year of high school. It was also during this time that I discovered musical theatre, and most importantly, Patti LuPone in Evita.

Listening to Patti LuPone's soaring belt in the Evita Original Broadway Cast Album was, to say the least, a transformative experience for me. It launched me into a lifetime of admiration and adoration of not only LuPone, but the magic of live theatre.

I knew then what I know now: I was destined to be onstage.

In a shocking twist of fate, I was a theatre kid in high school.

My first musical that I was in was Beauty and the Beast.  I quickly fell in love with being on stage and auditioned for as many shows as I could. This further solidified it for me: I wanted to be an actor and I wanted to go to college for Musical Theatre.

I've never been the athletic type, but it was also during high school that I found the one sport that truly spoke to me: Colorguard. I was hooked. It was yet another way for me to perform in front of other people.

The college audition process snuck up on me. Soon enough, life found me boarding a plane headed to Hartford, CT to get my BFA in Music Theatre from the  Hartt School of Music, Dance, and Theatre. I packed my bags with my dance clothes, my Patti LuPone memoir, and the determination to make my mom proud. To this day, that is still one of my biggest driving forces. That, and the desire to be just like Patti.
